No. Under Section 80E, only the interest component paid on the education loan is eligible for tax deduction. Principal repayments cannot be claimed under Section 80C or Section 80E.
Is Section 80E available under the New Tax Regime?
No. Section 80E deductions are part of chapter VI-A deductions which are generally not available if you opt for the New Tax Regime in India.
