About the TDS (Tax Deducted at Source) Calculator

Our free TDS Calculator helps individuals, businesses, and deductors compute the correct Tax Deducted at Source under Indian income tax provisions for various payments such as professional fees, rent, contracts, interest, and commissions.

How TDS is Calculated and Applied

Under the Income Tax Act, persons making specified payments must deduct tax at source if the payment exceeds statutory financial year threshold limits:

$$\text{TDS Amount} = \text{Gross Payment} \times \left(\frac{\text{Applicable TDS Rate (\%)}}{100}\right)$$

$$\text{Net Amount Payable} = \text{Gross Payment} - \text{TDS Amount}$$

Note on PAN Availability: If the recipient fails to furnish a valid Permanent Account Number (PAN), tax must be deducted at a higher rate of 20% under Section 206AA, regardless of standard section rates.
